Keynote Speaker I
Chair Prof. Qing Li, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong
Qing Li is currently a Chair Professor (Data Science) and the Head of the Department of Computing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Formerly, he was the founding Director of the Multimedia software Engineering Research Centre (MERC), and a Professor at City University of Hong Kong where he worked in the Department of Computer Science from 1998 to 2018. Prior to these, he has also taught at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Australian National University (Canberra, Australia). Prof. Li served as a consultant to Microsoft Research Asia (Beijing, China), Motorola Global Computing and Telecommunications Division (Tianjin Regional Operations Center), and the Division of Information Technology, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Australia. He has been an Adjunct Professor of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the Wuhan University, and a Guest Professor of the Hunan University (Changsha, China) where he got his BEng. degree from the Department of Computer Science in 1982. He is also a Guest Professor (Software Technology) of the Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China) -- the leading university of the Zhejiang province where he was born.
Keynote Speaker II
Distinguished Prof. Rung-Ching Chen, Chaoyang University of Technology, Taiwan (IET Fellow)
Rung-Ching Chen received the B.S. degree from department of electrical engineering in 1987, and the M. S. degree from the institute of computer engineering in 1990, both from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan. In 1998, he received the Ph.D. degree from the department of applied mathematics in computer science sessions, National Chung Tsing University. He is now a professor at the Department of Information Management, Taichung, Taiwan. He was a Department Chair of Information Management in CYUT, Chaoyang University of Technology, between 2005 and 2007. He has been a Dean of Informatics College of CYUT since 2007 to 2015. He was the Execution Director of Institution Research Office during Dec. 2015 and Jan. 2017 in CYUT. He also the president of Taiwanese Association for Consumer Electronics during December, 2012 and Dec. 2014. He has been a Fellow of IET since July, 2011. He was a visiting Professor at University of Central Florida, U.S.A. in 2012. He got a PMP(Project Management Professional) certification in 2013. His research interests include networks technology, domain ontology, pattern recognition and knowledge engineering, IoT and data analysis, the applications of Artificial Intelligent.
Keynote Speaker III
Prof. Tok Wang Ling, National University of Singapore, Singapore
Dr. Tok Wang Ling is a professor in Computer Science Department at the National University of Singapore. He was Head of IT Division, Deputy Head and acting head of the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science, and Vice Dean of the School of Computing of the University. Before joining the University as a lecturer in 1979, he was a scientific staff at Bell Northern Research, Ottawa, Canada. He serves/served on the program committee of more than 160 international database conferences including VLDB, CIKM, EDBT, ER, DASFAA, DOOD, DEXA, CoopIS, DOLAP, DaWaK, ADC, BigComp, etc. He organized and served as a program committee co-chair of 6 international database conferences, namely DASFAA 1995, DOOD 1995, ER 1998, WISE 2002, ER 2003, and ER 2011. He organized and served as a conference co-chair of several conferences and workshops, namely HSI 2001, 2003, and 2005, WAIM 2004, ER 2004, DASFAA 2005, DASFAA 2006 (Honorary Chair), SIGMOD 2007, VLDB 2010, DASFAA 2014 (Honorary Chair), BigComp 2015. He serves/served on the steering committees of 5 international conferences, namely ER, DASFAA, DOOD, HSI, and BigComp. He was the steering committee chair of both ER and DASFAA. He is currently the steering committee chair of BigComp. He is an editorial board member of the several international journals, namely Data & Knowledge Engineering, Journal of Database Management, Journal of Data Semantics, Journal of Information and Data Management, Journal of Computing Science and Engineering (International Advisory Board member). He is an ER Fellow, an ACM Distinguished Scientist, IEEE Senior Life Member, and Fellow of Singapore Computer Society. He received the ACM Recognition of Service Award in 2007, the DASFAA Outstanding Contributions Award in 2010, and the Peter P. Chen Award in 2011.
Keynote Speaker IV
Assoc. Prof. Ma Maode, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
(IET Fellow, Secretary of the IEEE Singapore Section, Chair of the ACM, Singapore Chapter)
Dr. Maode Ma, a Fellow of IET, received his Ph.D. degree in Department of Computer Science from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1999. Now, Dr. Ma is a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He has extensive research interests including network security and wireless networking. He has led 25 research projects funded by government, industry, military and universities in various countries. He has supervised over 20 research students to get their Ph. D degree. He has been a conference chair, technical symposium chair, tutorial chair, publication chair, publicity chair and session chair for over 100 international conferences. He has been a member of the technical program committees for more than 200 international conferences. Dr. Ma has more than 440 international academic publications including over 220 journal papers and more than 220 conference papers. His publication has received about 6000 citation in Google Scholar. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Computer and Communication Engineering and Journal of Communications. He also serves as a Senior Editor for IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, and an Associate Editor for international journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing and International Journal of Communication Systems. He had been an Associate Editor for IEEE Communications Letters from 2003 to 2011. Dr. Ma is a senior member of IEEE Communication Society and IEEE Education Society, and a member of ACM. He is now the Secretary of the IEEE Singapore Section and the Chair of the ACM, Singapore Chapter. Dr. Ma has been invited to be an IEEE Communication Society Distinguished Lecturer from 2013 to 2016.
Plenary Speaker I
Prof. Shigeo Akashi, Tokyo University of Science, Japan
Shigeo Akashi was certified as a Ph.D. holder by Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1987 and he is now a professor at Tokyo University of Science. He was the chair professor at the Department of Information Sciences at this university from 2015 through 2016. As for the academic and educational activities, he has been a member of the Experts Committee leading scientific education for Japanese senior high schools, which is authorized by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japanese Government since 2016. He is interested in the interdisciplinary research area ranging from applied mathematics and information sciences. As for the aspect of applied mathematics, he was an invited speaker in Asian Mathematical Conference which was held at Busan City in Korea in 2013, and moreover, he was a member of Scientific Committee for Asian Conference on Nonlinear Analysis and Optimization which was approved as a satellite international conference of International Congress of Mathematicians 2014. As for the aspect of information science, he has been certified as Distinguished Cisco Certified Active Instructor by Cisco Networking Academy, which is administrated by Cisco Systems, since 2012, and moreover, he was awarded 2018 APSCIT Fellowship by Asia Pacific Society for Computing and Information Technology. His joint research work with RKC Instruments Co. Ltd., which is the largest company in all Japanese companies producing temperature-measuring instruments, named as "An algorithm for discriminating the inside of a closed curve from the outside" has been approved with Patent ID. 4760768 by Japan Patent Office attached to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japanese Government in 2011.
Plenary Speaker II
Prof. Yulin Wang, Wuhan University, China
Yulin Wang is a full professor in the School of Computer Science, Wuhan University, China. His research interests include image and video processing, digital rights management, information security, intelligent system, e-commerce, IoT, code clone and so on. He got his PhD degree from University of London, UK. He got his master and bachelor degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST)and Xi-Dian University respectively, both in China. Before joining the Wuhan University, he has worked in Hi-tech IT industry, including HUAWEI© and national research institute, for more than ten years. He has involved more than 15 national and international research projects. In recently 10 years, Prof. Wang has published 1 book, and 50+ journal and conference papers, including in IEEE TIP. He holds 10 authorized patents. Prof. Wang served as EiC of 2 international journals and reviewer of top IEEE and ACM journals. He also served as reviewer of Innovative talents projects and national research funds, including National High Technology Research and Development Program of China. Prof. Wang was the external PhD advisor of Dublin City University, Ireland during 2008-2010. In recently 10 years, Prof. Wang served as chairman of more than 10 international conferences, and keynote speakers in more than 20 international conferences. Besides UK, he visited US, France,Italy, Portugal,Croatia, Australia, Germany, korea, Ireland,Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and Hong Kong. In addition, Prof. Wang has been appointed as the deputy director of Hubei provincial science and technology commission (CAPD) since 2014.
